Because you all might be getting a little sick and tired of hearing about how wonderful the Ford F-Series Pickup Truck, Honda Accord, Ford Explorer and Honda Odyssey are (as yet again, they are ranked the most requested vehicles in their respective categories), we decided to do something a little different this month.
What do you say we take a look at the underdogs of the Dealix Popularity Index for a change? Who are these underdogs (or stragglers as some of you may call them)? Who are these vehicles traveling in the slow lane of Dealix Popularity Index? In other words, what’s happening in the minor leagues, with the second stringers, on the B-list, off-Broadway, with the understudies, in the field of late bloomers? Let’s take a look.
Well, for starters, check out the Nissan 350Z! In February it skyrocketed on to the scene, knocking out the BMW 3 Series to take the 10th spot in most requested Cars. Is this a flashback to the 70’s or are Internet shoppers just getting cooler?
And how about that Dodge Dakota? What happened last month? Did it take a wrong turn, drive off a cliff? It wasn’t seen in the Dealix Top 10 Trucks list for January, but now it’s back with a vengeance, hitting the charts at number 9. Those customer incentives must be working!
In the SUV category, let’s give a hand to the Honda Pilot, the new big kid on the block. Has she come to defend her little sister, the CR-V, against the big bad Ford Explorer? Will the Pilot take the number one SUV spot some day?
And last, but not least, the Minivans! We are excited to report… there has been absolutely no change in the Minivan top 10 list. Is this because it’s a family car and families are supposed to be stable? That’s probably a good thing. Keep an eye on that Ford Windstar, though. It’s the only Minivan that put the pedal to the metal last month as it traded places with the Dodge Caravan, taking the number 3 spot.
About the Study
The Dealix Popularity IndexSM results are derived from online selections made by car shoppers using the Dealix New Car Buying System, which includes InvoiceDealers.com.
An asterisk* indicates that the listed vehicle includes several models and/or trim lines that share the same name.
