Internet dealers moved the Honda Odyssey at a higher rate than any other vehicle in the second quarter of this year, according to Dealix Business Intelligence data. Honda always wins popularity contests with Internet customers, but it’s usually other vehicle classes, namely sedans and SUVs that beat out the minivans in terms of close rates. Overall, it was a great quarter for minivans, however, as the Kia Sedona took a close second place to the Odyssey.
Though Honda performed well as usual, it was The Koreans that really shined. AutoExec’s July cover story “Seoul Power,” featuring Korean automakers, was timely. This article and the results from this study are testament to the good decisions that Korean automakers are making.
Low build complexity and an affordable price point appear to be the sweet spot with many Internet customers. That, along with strides in improving overall quality, has generated a lot of excitement for Kia and Hyundai. Just one year ago, Hyundai wasn't even included in the top 10 list of the highest quality vehicles. This year, however, it catapulted to #1 status, according to J.D. Power. Lexus, look out!
